Ingrediants
- Toor dal/ chana dal – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 medium chopped
- Ginger – 1 tbsp – chopped
- Green chilli – 2-3 chopped
- Curry leaves – 5-10 chopped
- Salt – ½ tsp – as needed
- Water – ¼ cup
- Oil – as needed
Method of preperation
- Soak the toor dal for 2 hours and drain.
- Pulse grind the toor dal /chana dalwith adequate amount of water to a coarse thick consistency mixture.
- Hand mix the ground toor dal with the chopped onions, green chili, ginger, curry leaves and salt.
- Heat oil in a shallow pan and turn down the heat to medium.
- Make medium sized flatted patties and deep fry them, flipping at frequent intervals till it turns golden brown.
- Drain and serve hot with banana or ketchup.
Tips & tricks
- To make the patties, scoop 1 tbsp of the ground mixture and roll between the palms. Press the rolled ground mixture with light hands.
- If the dough seems to be sticking on to your hands, wet the hands before making the patties.
- Small sized patties are easy and quick to cook.
